Welcome to HAKKA HOUSE
Welcome to HAKKA HOUSE
We are a community space based in Vancouver Chinatown. Join us in critical cultural learning, dialogue, organizing, and play.
In Chinese languages, Hakka literally means “guest families”, shaped by prolonged processes of multigenerational displacement and migration. Historically, Hakka has been an imposed identity, a marker of outsider status and cultural inferiority. As Hakka people, we hope 客家 HAKKA HOUSE becomes a humble guest house for the making of community life.
客家 HAKKA HOUSE is an initiative of Critical Alternatives.
Visit us at 103A-180 Keefer St in the Vancouver Chinatown Plaza Mall. We are open Tuesdays to Thursdays from 11am-4pm, and on select times on Saturdays and Sundays. Please check the calendar below for more information.
If you'd like to book the space or collaborate with us, please send us an email.
We can be reached at info@hakkahouse.org.
客家 HAKKA HOUSE is located on the unceded lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
